 Europa and the Bull is such a great story and the images made about this myth  are so wonderful. Here are two of my favorite sculptures.

Above is Miles'  at Cranbrook.  Booth  loved Miles' work and Cranbrook is all  Miles sculpture. They are really wonderful. I always loved this Europa and the Bull  because no matter the weather in Michigan -- there she was being carried away.

Botero's Europa and the Bull is awesome.There she's proudly perched  on the Bull. Wonderful.

1st grade Paintings of Pets

These paintings are beautiful --- I wish that I hadn't sent them home but the chorus was so persistent. The students are very proud of the  work they have created.  Remember those rock lines and  all the  line practices ,  well...then we  talked about pets and mad drawings of a pet---a bird, a cat, a turtle ,a dog. The students created a final painting of their pet  along with two to three items the pet might want to play with --- fish were a little bit of a challenge  for "toys" -- we all agreed  the  castle was a "toy" for the fish. The students filled their paintings with color using watercolor crayons and liquid water colors. They were very interested in mixing and layering  the color  using the two mediums together.

On my visit with my sister and her family in Spokane WA we all went  pumpkin patch picking ... perfect!  and  to an apple orchard were we picked 30# of  beautiful apples-- in addition  to looking for every apple recipe out there when we got home --- we also cleaned the apples and ate a lot of them. As you can see from the apples that my niece and nephew are holding --- some were not that big-- cute small apples.   We  made apple crisp. The pumpkins will be carved later this week : )

I have this excerpt from a book about prayer that  was given to me. Really don't know  who the author is -- but the writer says:

 " Why should I spend an hour in prayer each day when I do nothing  during that time but think about people I am angry with, people who are angry with me , books I should read, books I should write, and a thousand other silly things that  happen to grab my mind  for a moment?---The answer is because God is greater than my mind and my heart, and what is happening in prayer is not measurable in terms of  human success  and failure. What I must do first of all is be faithful. If I believe that the first commandment is to love God with my whole heart, mind and soul, then I should at least be able to spend   one hour a day  with nobody else but God. The question  as to whether it is helpful , useful,practical, or fruitful is completely irrelevant, since the only reason to love is love itself. Everything else is secondary.

The remarkable thing, however , is that sitting in the presence of God for one hour each morning---day after day , week after week, month after month-- in total confusion and with a myriad of distractions, radically changes my life. God, who loves me so much that he sent his only son not to condemn me but to save me, does not leave me hanging in the dark too long.  I might think that each hour is useless, but after thirty, or sixty or ninety useless hours, I gradually realize that I was not as alone as I thought;a very small, gentle voice has been speaking to me far beyond my noisy place .So: be confident and trust in the Lord."

Looking forward to starting a new blog for my classroom. As the  learning continues  for this process  I've discovered that  we need a new program for our  school website. So.... I'm going to get trained on  how to redesign our website --- which is a good thing because  the current site is tired and yawning even as I write this and the new program allows individual teachers to  create their own sites within the school site --- Art can have a site and a blog that connects to it. Very nice.  The students can then access their  teacher's site for information, homework , updates on their class--- as well as  checking out the additional pages.

Also --- for a great YOUTube  video on Copyright Laws  Look up Disney Copyright Laws--- wanted to place this here -- just goggle Disney Copyright Laws-- not time right now to place the link --- will later : )
